We contacted Agora and received a note back from them in relation to the usage of the terms “advice/advise”. They confirmed that “Tom held CF30 status” and we were told that we “mistakenly took the line ‘Give us the advice we need on a daily basis to truly profit from forex (since removed)’ and that line in isolation could be taken to mean tips, but (Agora) feel the letter overall shows this is not the case. Tom is giving the information and knowledge so that members can trade for profit themselves.”.
We still stand by the fact that we identified no less than 10 instances of the terms and we believe this sales page implies that the author is offering, via this product, to provide advice and that the author is not qualified to offer such advice (assuming we have not mistakenly taken the word “held” to mean still holds).
All due respect to Tom and his service, the information and knowledge in his newsletter may be great and useful to some but it should be sold as such, information and knowledge – The words advice/advise seem, to us, to be misleading. We will end on the note that we believe this is, at a minimum, miss if not shameful use of the wording advice/advise in relation to financial products.
So does that mean he wont be giving us specific tips, just his daily newsletter?
I signed up for this, and receive a daily Email which provides a general rundown of the FX market. There are no actual alerts or trade recommendations, just general observations, so its not really possible to gauge its validity!
I received a promotional leaflet for this today, & read it with interest.
So far this thread has not actually put Toms advice to the test over a few months.
Does the Review team plan to do this soon? My own thinking is that even if you pay the 1st years subscription of £97 then this is a small price for putting it to the test, especially when you consider that most of the FOREX systems cost around £200 upwards into thousands!!

Just received marketing glossy from Richard Hill/Agora for Tom Tragett’s Forex Insider Trader at the discounted price of £97. Reference the above comment as to whether he is qualified and authorised to give advice – Tragett is claiming his “tips” could make a 190 point profit some days.
As mentioned it is difficult to review this product as the “advice” is not measurable because as we believe it is not a “tipping” service with clear buy/sell signals.
As a note – We could also claim that our “tips” could make 190 points profit some days just like we could claim that some days huge storms will hit the east coast of America.

Forex Insider Daily – Glossary of Terms and Abbreviations.
Look, I know that sometimes with the things I write, it’s like I’m speaking in another language. I’ve heard that a few times from FID readers.
I’m sorry if some of this is new to you. It’s just that having been trading these markets for more than 30 years, I guess it’s second nature to me.
But to make it easier, I thought I’d put together a glossary of some of the things I talk about regularly and what they mean. I think this will help you get to grips with some of the lingo.

General Terms.
Bid/Offer spread – The difference in pips between the left-hand (SELL) and right hand side (BUY) of a price. Bids – Orders to ‘BUY’. Big figure – Also called the “handle”, it’s the bit of a forex quote common to both the bid and the offer. For example, if the GBPUSD currency pair has a bid of 1.5753 and an ask of 1.5755, the “big figure” would be 1.57. Buy dips to X – That means, from my own personal strategy, I am looking for the price of the relevant currency to fall to X before buying in. See also “Sell rallies to X”. CDS – Credit Default Swap. A holder of a bond can buy a CDS and pay a non-refundable premium for it. If the bond issuer subsequently defaults, the CDS issue pays a compensating payment on it. In other words, a CDS is bond insurance. CPI – الرقم القياسي لأسعار المستهلك. This is the official measure of inflation of consumer prices in the UK. كروس ريت & # 8211؛ Any exchange rate not involving USD in the pairing. EFSF – European Financial Stability Fund. The predecessor of the ESM. ESM – European Stability Mechanism. It’s a recue fund for the Eurozone which will come into force in July 2018. It’s objective is to bail out struggling economies and banks. Fixing orders – Month-end fixing orders can be sizeable and often involve ‘official’ transactions, i. e. from central banks. These orders have to be settled at various times in the day, usual on the hour. The most likely times for these are 1.15pm and 4pm. The orders, to buy or sell, are set at whatever the prevailing rate is in the market when the clock strikes these designated times. GDP – إجمالي الناتج المحلي. A measure of the total amount of goods and services produced by a country in a specific period of time, usually a year or a quarter. GDP data releases can move forex pairings if better or worse than anticipated. Handle – Also called the “big figure”, it’s the bit of a forex quote common to both the bid and the offer. For example, if the GBPUSD currency pair has a bid of 1.5753 and an ask of 1.5755, the handle would be 1.57. Key reversal – This is a technical pattern defined by a higher or lower opening from the day before, a fresh high or low recorded, and then a close above or below the previous day’s close. Key reversals are important because they can signal the reversal of a trend. LHS – Left-hand side (SELL). Long – A trade taken in anticipation of a rising market – an “up bet” in spread betting language. If I am “long”, that means that I have bought the currency in question. ما & # 8211؛ Moving average. This is an indicator on a price chart which shows the average price over a set period. For example the 20-day moving average. Offers – Orders to ‘SELL’. “Residual long” or “residual short” – When I say, for example, “remain residual short”, it’s because I have already taken some profits on the way down and lowered my risk. And then after taking some profits, I had a “residual short” position – i. e. what is left. For example, I might have closed out a half or a third of my original position to bank some profits. And then moved my stop loss to lower the risk on the remaining portion. RHS – a right-hand side (BUY). Sell rallies to X – That means, from my own personal strategy, I am looking for the price of the relevant currency to rise to X before going short. See also “Buy dips to X”. Short – A trade taken in anticipation of a falling market – a “down bet” in spread betting language. If I am “short”, that means that I have sold the currency in question in order to profit from it falling. Short covering – This is the act of buying a currency in order to close out a ‘short’ position. See “Short”. Square – That means I have no position on that pairing – and am not looking to enter at that stage. You will sometimes see me include this in my personal strategy section of a FID update, e. g. “currently square”. Stop hunting – Where big players try to force the price to levels where individual stop losses are placed. It can cause an acceleration in price movement as the stops are triggered.
A brief explanation of ‘Risk on/Risk off’
I think it makes sense if I provide you with as comprehensive, yet simple as possible, explanation of how to define risk appetite (Risk on) and risk aversion (risk off).
It’s just guide really and not a hard and fast rule because sometimes there’s a more pressing reason for any one component not to follow the rest of the crowd.
So this is what tends to happen depending on the general appetite for risk…
You’ll note that I have left out gold in the above. That’s because its complicated dynamic means that it can go up or down under both risk scenarios.
Option Terms.
First a little background on the options market.
The options market in currencies is huge. Options can be a much better bet for many reasons as they can represent a cheaper alternative to many different types of players, as well as companies seeking to hedge currency exposure over a longer term.
Basically an option gives the buyer the right to buy or sell a currency pair, but not the obligation.
The most common type of option is a ‘vanilla’ option – that is a plain option with a pre-set strike rate and that can be priced in two different ways.
The buyer of any option will pay a fee to the writer, or seller of the option, normally when the option trade is struck – this is known as the premium.
American style option – Allows the buyer to take up an Option they have bought at ‘any time before the Option expiry. European style option – Allows the buyer of the Option only to take up the Option at the maturity date.
Both options can be sold back into the market place, either to the original writer of the option or to a third party. American style Options are more expensive that Euro style options because of their greater flexibility.
Put option – an option that has the right to ‘sell’ Call option – an option that has the right to ‘buy’ Strike – the price at which any option is set at – ‘the strike price’ Option expiry – The time at which an option matures – usually based at 10am Chicago time or 3pm London time.
If any Option is not taken up at or within a few minutes of the expiry time then the Option will expire worthless and the buyer of the Option will lose their right exercise that option and any premium paid for it will be retained by the seller of the option.
Therefore the only risk to the buyer of an option is the premium that they have to pay for it the first place. There is never any obligation for any buyer of an option to take it up.
Barrier option – an option that has to remain under or above a certain price before maturity to remain live – hence large barrier options can attract large buying and selling interest near the strike as the writer of the option seeks to ‘knock it out’ and the buyer of the option seeks to keep it live. Knock out or knock in options – options that can be either ‘knocked out’ or ‘knocked in’ if a predetermined strike price is touched. Therefore these tend to be less expensive than plain vanilla options as they can be removed or not even triggered before maturity.
